Born: December 31, 1965 (A New Year’s Eve Baby!) in Omaha, Nebraska

Marital Status: Married to wife Cathy with 5 children, 3 sons and 2 twin daughters

College: Notre Dame, majored in Business Finance, attended on a full Track and Field scholarship

Nicholas Sparks’ first two novels went unpublished. His third novel took him six months to write. Literary agent Theresa Park, who plucked it out of a slush pile, discovered what would become Nicholas’ first published novel, “The Notebook”. This novel experienced tremendous success reaching the New York Times bestseller list on its first week.

Nicholas Sparks’ has found great success in writing in the Christianity, Love, Tragedy, and Fate genres. He has published a string of international bestsellers, translated into over thirty-five different languages. Three of the novels were made into feature-length films and a fourth is in production now, due out in 2008.
