As the title portrays Cat and Mouse is the classic Tom and Jerry game set in a crime detective scene where the thrill of the chase and the euphoria of getting away with yet another crime outweigh any other motives or dangers involved.
Alex Cross is Washington D.C.’s top-notch, hot shot detective who has put away lots of felons in the past and made some great enemies as well. He plays the Tom part quite well in this novel. He loves the thrill of the chase and thinks there is no crime he can’t solve. Alex is not afraid of anyone, thinks he is top dog and is on the job 24/7 to solve the country’s toughest crime cases.
Alex’s outstanding detective skills had previously landed Gary S. in the state pen where he belonged for the outlandish crimes he had committed. Now however, Gary was out on good behavior and ready to pay back Alex with a raging vengeance. Gary starts on a string of random, senseless murders, even leaving Alex’s blood on some of the murder weapons in an attempt to emotionally charged the detective and force him to make a mistake. All the while, Gary is setting a trap for Alex and slowly drawing him into his snare. Alex falls for it hook, line, and sinker. But be warned, Alex does not go down without a fight!
Running almost in tandem with this string of senseless, random murders in the U.S. is another string of them in Europe, particularly London. The famed Mr. Smith is the man responsible for these always brutal attacks on innocent people. He’s at 19 and counting with no end in sight, never making a mistake, never being seen, much less caught. Albeit, not because he doesn’t give the police, the FBI, and Interpol a chance. Mr. Smith calls them or faxes them every time to let them know another strike is about to happen and they have a renewed chance to try and stop him. He even calls them afterward and lets them know where the body can be found. Mr. Smith just plain enjoys toying with the authority figures in addition to the nice ego boost he receives each time he completes another hit.
The FBI thinks they have both cases all figured out, but as in the classic game of Cat and Mouse, even though the cat appears to have the upper hand, the mouse is just enjoying one more laugh at the cat’s expense.
Cat and Mouse is a classic James Patterson crime-thriller. Lots of twists and turns with a dash of romance added in. If you can stomach the graphically described crime scenes, and love the mystery and thrill of a good chase, then download yourself a copy of Cat and Mouse, and sit back and listen to the chase begin!

In Cat & Mouse, things get too close to home. Two killers, one operating in America-one in Europe-believe Alex Cross is the only worthy opponent in the deadly game each has planned.
Villian Gary Soneji is back. He vows his last act on earth will be taking the life of Alex Cross. But first he wants to have some fun.
Union Station, Washington, and Penn Station in New York are scenes of chaos as Soneji creates a train ride to hell. With time running out, Cross must predict Soneji's next move: the lives of thousands of innocent commuters hang in the balance.
Meanwhile, a second game of cat and mouse is being played. Thomas Augustine Pierce is referred to by the FBI and Interpol as "St. Augustine" for his uncanny ability to catch killers. He has been chasing his demon, Mr. Smith, since his fiancee was brutally murdered, her heart cut out.
Panic spreads through Europe when Mr. Smith strikes in London...then Paris... But when the Soneji case takes a baffling new twist, Pierce must put the Mr. Smith case on hold to assist in a special investigation.
Will Cross-or Pierce-figure out in time who is the cat, and who is the mouse?
