Sandra Brown started writing in 1981 after being fired from her job when her husband challenged and encouraged her to do what she had always wanted to do. It turns out writing was definitely her passion. Brown has churned out at least one novel a year since her first start at writing novels back in 1981. She has had over 50 of those novels hit the New York Times best-seller list.
Brown makes up her own characters because the real people in her life are a bit boring. She likes making up her characters to the point they become very real to her and her readers. She loves book signings and book fairs because that is where she gets to meet and interact with her fans.
Following right along with her genres, romance and suspense, she is the founding member of the International Thriller Writers, along with receiving the Romance Writers of America's Lifetime Achievement Award.
